NHyNUS
About the Project The NHyNUS project addresses the current limitations in processing technologies that hinder the production of high-performance components and cost reduction. It aims to develop a new melting and melt treatment process specifically designed for Nano-Reinforced Aluminum Alloys.
The Innovation At the core of this project is a novel Hybrid Ultrasonic-Stirring in-situ melting concept. This advanced technique is designed to be an affordable, environmentally friendly, and extremely effective method for processing novel materials and alloys, effectively removing existing technological bottlenecks.
Goals and Application The primary objective is to enable the manufacturing of a new generation of critical and complex shape cast components that exhibit improved properties.
Strategic Impact Beyond immediate manufacturing capabilities, NHyNUS intends to:
- Seed-fund critical research in the field.
- Support the integration of nanotechnology scientific infrastructure into the manufacturing processes of Portuguese and European transformation industries.
